LES & LMS Families,

As many of you are aware we have had an immense increase in COVID cases in the Pueblo, as well as in the state of New Mexico in the last few weeks. In addition to educating our students, it is also a goal of ours to help keep our students, families, and staff healthy and safe. In an attempt to keep everyone safe in this pandemic, we will be making changes to our Monday packet deliveries. Changes are outlined below and are effective 11/16/20.

  • Packets/folders will not be sent out as they have been this year.
  • Packet learners will learn through curriculum textbooks, practice and work books that were sent home at the beginning of the school year. If your child did not receive these materials, they will be delivered to their meal site on 11/16/20.
  • Teachers will be calling home and informing packet families of procedures.
  • Students with IEPs will receive packets with materials based on IEPs. Teachers will contact these families and inform them on how this will take place.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the schools

Dates to Remember

• 11/09: All LMS assignments due
• 11/11: No School: Veteran’s Days
• 11/18: School Board Meeting
• 11/19 & 11/20: Parent Teacher Conferences
• 11/25-11/27: No School: Thanksgiving Break

The Days and Months Are Flying By…
Students have already completed 8 weeks of at home learning. I want to thank all of our families for all your hard work supporting at home learning. I know it has been frustrating at times, but everyone is pushing ahead for our students.

Parent Teacher Conferences will take place 11/19/20 & 11/20/20. Elementary teachers will contact you to schedule a phone or zoom meeting and advisory teachers will be contacting middle school families.

LDOE will be surveying our parents on what they recommend for our schools. Should our students return to school in January? Should our students go hybrid (part time at home and part time in school)? Should our students continue with learning from home. Please respond to the survey, which will go out next week.

Attendance… We are still keeping track of student’s attendance. If your student will not be logging in to their online classes, please call the school and let us know. LES: 505-552-9200 LMS:505-552-9091 Meal Deliveries… There will be no meal deliveries on Fridays any longer. Thursday meal deliveries will include 4 meals instead of 2.

Important Covid Quarantine Reminder
If your family is placed on quarantine due to a family member testing positive or a possible exposure, please do not return packets to the schools. This puts staff at risk of exposure and increases chances of the virus spreading. You can call the school and let us know you are on quarantine. Any work/assignments completed during quarantine will be excused until quarantine is lifted and it is safe to return packets to the schools.

LES-LMS Newsletter November 2020

UPDATED November 3, 2020

Parents/Guardians,

LDOE will continue to serve meals on Mondays through Thursdays, same locations and same times. On Thursdays, LDOE will be delivering four (4) meals per student, two meals for Thursday and two meals for Friday. Starting on November 6th, we will no longer be delivering meals on Friday. Our meal counts have dropped significantly on Fridays. By making this change, we hope to increase the number of meals our children are receiving. We will keep this schedule until further notice.

Please contact LDOE at 505-552-6008, if you have any questions and we will gladly respond. Thank you so much.
